Gäss i flertal, ett säkert tecken på att våren är här för att stanna. Geese in large amounts, a true sign that tells that spring is here to stay.

Växtligheten har börjat komma igång, dessa nässlor kommer att bli en god soppa någon dag. Outdoors it have started to spur, these weeds are going to be prepared to a delicious soup within a day or two.

I väntan på trädgårdsblommor har det tjuvstartats inomhus. In wait for the flowers to bloom outdoors I´m head of my time and have one for decoration indoors.

Nybakt bröd är det på gång här. Utöver det håller jag intensivt på att titta runt i alla olika menyer på min spriolans nya kamera, tids nog får jag nog grepp om olika möjliga inställningar och många provknäppningar lär det bli på vägen.

Today I don´t like the weather. I have a brand new camera in my hand that arrived yesterday and of course when the battery had loaded over night it just had to be a rainy day to wake up to, just typical. Speciellt svårt var det inte att finna något att fotografera som passade till veckans färger, mycket grått och brunt finns det ute i trädgården just nu. Brunt visset gräs under lager av is är en vanliga syn så här i början på våren.

It was an easy task to find a motif for this weeks colours, there are lots of greys and browns in the garden at the moment. Brown faded grass under a cover of ice is one thing easily spotted these early spring days.

Som Katarina så sant skriver är det mörkt under en lång period av året här i Norden, mörkret lägger sig på hösten när löven faller och ljuset återkommer först på våren då träden börjar knoppas. Det är inte konstigt att folk klagar på att de är trötta i slutet på vintern innan vårsolen anländer och träden börjar spricka upp i grönska.

It is dark for a long time of the year here in the north as Katarina so truly says, the darkness arrives at fall when the leafs starts to fall and doesn´t return until spring when the trees starts to spur. It´s not for nothing peaople complain about tiredness at the end of winter before the spring sun arrives and the trees starts turning green.

Det ligger fortfarande några dm snö kvar på gräsmattorna så det dröjer ännu länge innan man kan gå runt i shorts ute, men jag glädjer mig åt att snön tinat upp i de skottade gångarna så att man kan se gräsmattan.

There still is a few dm thick layer of snow on the lawn so weeks remain until it is possible to walk around in shorts outdoors, I´m very pleased to see that the snow have melted in the shoveled trails so I can see the grass on the ground though.

Ett litet blomarrangemang från förra våren, i förgrunden en trasig svampkorg med penséer och i bakgrunden ett gammalt rostigt luftfilter från en bil som delats i två delar och pyntats med ageratum. Det kan vara riktigt trivsamt med återvinning ibland.

A flower arrangement from spring past, in the foreground a broken mushroom basket with planted pancies and in the background an old rusty air filter from a car divided in two pieces and planted with ageratums. Recycling can be really enjoyable from time to time.

Harsh was the winter with heavy snowfall

Hazardous it is to walk outside now when the snow have started to melt, snow mixed with ice and puddles of water.

Happy I am that I have spotted the first snowdrops that indicate that spring is waiting around the corner.

Photo mania är en utmaning jag hittade för några veckor sedan men idag är första tillfället jag deltar, utmaningen är helt enkelt att öva sig i bildmanipulering. För detta första bidrag har jag så gjort endast en liten förvanskning och det är att omvandla fotot till en oljemålning.

Photo mana is a new meme to me that I stumbled over a few weeks back but today is the first day for participation, the task is simply to practise in the art of manipulating images. For this first contribution I´ve made a simple edition to the image and that is transform the photo into a oil painting.

Opuntia brasiliensis

Här kan vi se en stor kruka om 13.3 liter med 99 cm höga Brasilopuntior, och det är ju små plantor med såna här kaktusars mått mätt för de blir ju höga träd egentligen, men jämfört med den lilla avkomma om 6cm som är placerad i en 0,45 liter stor kruka så ter den sig att vara enorm. Och dess blommor är ju alldeles underbara, om man väl får den att blomma i fångenskap vill säga, jag har sett en blomma under min snart 25 åriga bekantskap med arten.

Here we can se a 13,3 litres large pot with 99cm high Brasilopuntias, tiny plants considering these cacti actually becomes trees in their natural habitat, compared to the 6cm high cutting in the smal pot of 0,45litres they do look humongous. And its flowers is absolutely adorable, I´ve one is fortunate and gets it to bloom in captivity, I have seen one flower thus far and that means during the last 25 years.

Har precis gått igenom mina fröpåsar för att se om det var mer som kunde tänkas vilja komma i jorden nu under sjukledigheten och där hittade jag detta skojiga gräs som jag köpte av Blomster_Irene för några veckor sedan. Nu blir det plantera av efter hemkomsten från tandläkaren, frösåning är trevlig sjukterapi.

Just been going through my parcles with seeds to see whether there were some urging to be put in soil during my sick leave from work, among those seeds I found this funny looking grass that I bought from a fellow gardener a few weeks back. Now I have some planting to attend to after my dentist appointment, seedplanting is nice therapy.

Strömmen som går bakom min bakgård står aldrig still så det kan ju vara ett passande motiv för temat rörlig. Allt mobilt är ju inte telefoner, vatten är också något som förflyttar sig och då dels i sig självt men det kan ju även nyttjas till transporter via båt som exempel. Förbi min trädgård går dock inte mycket båttrafik, vattenskotrar har jag sett några men annars är det mest kanoter eller kajaker som kan ta sig fram, strömt, stenigt och låg vattennivå på sina håll.

The stream that goes by my backyard never stands still so I do think it is a suitable motif for the theme mobile. Not only phones are mobile, transportable are also water by itself and for transportion for vehicles like boats etc. Not many boats drives by my backyard though since it is a dufficult section to pass due to water depth, stream strenght and large stones here and there across the bottom, I have seen some jetskis though and part from that just canoes and kayaks.

Blommig fredag: En gnutta grönt/A pinch of green

Precis som Katarina på Rosor och ris så längtar även jag efter grönska, mer specifikt vårgrönska. Just nu är det enda gröna som kan siktas i trädgården en tall, ett par thujor och en rhododendron i överigt är det bara vitt, vitt, vitt. Det är tur jag har lite (eller mycket) som grönskar inomhus så inte vintern känns mer långdragen än vanligt. En av de krukväxter som jag är lite mer stolt över än somliga andra är ju ananasplantan som vuxit sig imponerande stor, tänka sig va att det kan bli något sådant här av rosetten från en frukt man köpt i affären.

Just like Katarina on Roses and stuff I urge for a pinch of green, specifically the type of green that take form in the garden when spring arrives. At present the only green that can be spotted is a pinetree, a couple of thujas and a rhododendron and part from that it is white, white, white. Luckily I have some potted plants indoors that provides some greenery. One of the potted plants makes me more proud than some of the others and that is the ananas that have grown impressively large, imagine that the rosette from a fruit bought at the supermarket can turn into something like that.

Och givetvis står det även hos mig en hel del plantor på drivning som skall planteras ut så småningom när temperaturen så tillåter. Hittills är det tio arter som såtts till köksträdgården och tjugoen olika sorters blomster varav det mesta perennt och imorgon åker det fler fröer ner i jorden. På bilden nedan kan ses en av de sorters peppar som dragits upp från frö, 70 plantor fördelat på nio arter blev det i år....jag tycker om både paprika och chili.

Of course there are some plants thriving on the seeds table, those plants will be planted outdoors as soon as the temperature so allows. This far there are 10 specimens for the kitchen garden and 21 different flowers thriving and tomorrow some more seeds will be put in soil. On the image below can bee seen one of the pepper spicies that I growed for this season, 70 plants divided on nine spicies in all....I do like both sweet and hot peppers.

Ja speciellt många ord som börjar på Q finns det ju inte i den svenska ordlistan, armbandsklockor av den här typen kallar man dock quartz precis så som det står skrivet på urtavlan.

Not many words there are in the swedish dictionary that starts with the letter Q, this type of watch though is called quartz just as can be read on the clock face.

Jag önskar att årets chilisäsong blir bättre än föregående års, förra året fick plantorna lägga mer energi på återväxt än på producerande av fruktbärande blommor eftersom de blev massinvaderade av sniglar. För att jag skall vara säker på att få några frukter att skörda i år, har jag ökat upp antalet plantor till det dubbla. För tillfället så står det 70 plantor på drivning, ett par sorters paprika och sju olika sorters starka pepparsorter.

I wish that this years gardening season will be more benefitial for my chiliplants than last years. Last year snails decided to have a major feast, they climbed up and down munching on their march from plant to plant so few fruits very produced in my chiligarden. To be certain that I will have some fruits to harvest later on during the season, the amount seeds planted were increased to the double. At the moment I have 70 pepper plants thriving on the shelf, a couple of sweet pepper varieties and seven different hot peppers.

Denna veckas tema krävde en dykning ner i arkivet, direkt jag läste temat kom jag att tänka på denna bild som jag tog i samband med ett besök på Wij trädgårdar 2008. Ett växthus innehållande inget annat än brännässlor, det tycker jag är fantasifullt.

This weeks theme caused a dive into the archive, instantely when I read the word for the theme this image come to mind, this picture was taken at Wij gardens in 2008. A greenhouse containing nothing but common nettles, that is what I call fanciful.

En utmaning per dag gör själen glad.

Jag håller ögonen öppna efter nya utmaningar och den senaste jag snubblade över var Photo hund. Nyckelordet för denna veckas Photo hunt är undervisning, lyckligtvis hade jag en bild för att karaktärisera detta i mitt arkiv. Denna teckning skulle man kunna kalla ett barndomsminne, det är något jag tecknade när jag var blott fem år och det skall föreställa min familj så som den såg ut då. Efter att jag började skolan fick jag lära mig att S.et var spegelvänt och att det skulle tecknas ned ur en annan vinkel.

I keep my eyes open for new memes and the last one I stumbled over were Photo hunt. The keyword for this weeks Photo hunt is education, fortunately I had a suitable picture to characterize that in my archive. This drawing may we call a childhood memory, I drew this when I was five years old and it is a picture of me and my family as it looked back then. Later on after attending school I was thaught that the letter S was reversed and should be drawn in a different angle.

Detta är faktiskt inget plagg som tillhör mig utan det är ett föremål som kan återses på min arbetsplats. Just nu håller jag på med en grundlig inventering av alla de föremål som donerats till museet under årens lopp och detta antika klänningsliv är ett av dem ting som synats lite noggrannare idag. Små konstverk är dessa gamla plagg.

This garment doesn´t belong to me, it is one of many items than can be viewed at work. For the moment I´m doing an thorough inventory of all those bits and pieces that have been donated to the museum during the years and this antique dress shirt is one of those things that have been attended today. These old garments are small pieces of art.

Ecobirder visade solrosor i sitt bidrag till dagens blommor, bilder som verkligen värmer en kylig vinterdag. Själv går jag dock och väntar på de där små tecknen som talar om att kung Bore börjat lägga sig till vila och att våren är i antågande.

Ecobirder showed sunflowers for todays flowers, images that surely brings warmth on a chilly winters day. I though wander around in wait for them small signs that say mr Frost are about to go to sleep and that spring soon makes its arrival.

Något av trädgårdens stolthet är Rhododendronbusken som står alldeles översållad med blommor i juni och behagar mig med såväl vackra blommor som väldoft, samma kriterier uppfyller morsdagsrosorna som blommar i juli/augusti.

Somewhat the pride of the garden is the magnificant Rhododendron that is covered with pretty flowers spreading a lovely scent in june, later on in july/august the roses marches in with there variaties in colour and fragrance.
